Brad's Bit: Pray for Answers

Pray for Answers

We pray for answers for ourselves, our family, and our friends. We find an astonishing promise in Jeremiah 33:3, where we are encouraged to call on God for answers. Not Google, not “Hey Siri or Alexa”, nor someone else, but call on our great all-knowing God in Heaven. He says to “call on Me, and I will answer you”! Wow, what a promise, what comfort, what peace should blanket our souls in complete assurance that our Father says to call on Him and He will respond. And we can be assured His ears are always open to our prayers (see 1 Pt. 3:12). We find a similar promise in James 1:5‒6, where we are told to ask God for wisdom and understanding. He wants us to rely on Him, not our own understanding as reflected in Proverbs 3:5‒6. He wants us to put our trust in Him and to come to Him for answers to our difficult situations we face. Don’t you love it when your children run to you for help and jump into your lap? Our Father yearns for us to run up and jump in His lap to spend time with Him sharing our hearts concerns, questions and dilemmas. He loves “lap time” with us, His beloved children. We read of another such promise from God in Jeremiah 29:12 where we are encouraged to come and call upon Him and He will listen to us. Yes, our great Creator God who created everything and is in charge of everything, holding the sun, moon and stars in their place assures us that if we pray to Him, He will indeed listen and answer us. This causes me to stop, lift my hands and face to Heaven and praise my Jesus who loves me, cares for me, listens to me, and promises to answer me. Rebekah found this to be true when she was barren but so desired children. Her husband, Isaac, pleaded with God on behalf of his wife and she became pregnant. But something was going on in her womb that she instinctively knew was not normal. She could not go to the local doctor, or for an ultrasound—but, she did something she could do, she went and inquired of the Lord. When she did, the Lord answered her request and told her she had twins in her womb (see Gen. 25:21–24). Our Lord is faithful, so let us take a moment to spend precious time in His presence, seeking His face and listening for His answers. My heart is overwhelmed with His compassion and goodness with faith rising as I read in Deuteronomy 32:10–12 that even when I feel like I am in a desert or deserted wilderness, confused and all alone, my God will encircle me and instruct me in the way I should go. If He has to, He will carry me on His wings, for He alone will lead me to my destination. Our trust should be in God, and God alone. Oh Jesus, our Jesus, we repent and ask for forgiveness of going everywhere and to everyone for answers, instead of stopping and coming to You instead. You alone know everything, as you created all things and hold all creation in Your hand. We really do want Your answers instead of ours. You created us and therefore You alone know what is best for us; You have purposes and plans for us that would astound us. May we begin today to come to You for “lap time” on behalf of ourselves, our family and our friends that are desperately needing answers. You are our answer. Oh, how we trust you, and love and adore you dear Jesus.
