Ignite Your Faith: Pride vs. Humility: Which Will You Choose?

Pride vs. Humility: Which Will You Choose?

"

If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray... then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." — 2 Chronicles 7:14

As a new believer, I wondered: If God is all-powerful, why does He need our prayers?

The answer is in this verse. God starts with humility because our human nature resists it. Pride caused Satan's fall and keeps us from reflecting Jesus. But when we humble ourselves, God moves powerfully.

Pride vs. Humility in Our Culture

Our culture celebrates pride in many forms. We see it in the annual "pride month" that honors lifestyles contrary to God's design. It has become fashionable to celebrate what Scripture calls us to turn from.

But God calls His people to something different—humility.

What Is True Humility?

Humility means thinking of yourself less, not thinking less of yourself. It's recognizing both your strengths and weaknesses, and treating others with respect and kindness. As Paul said, we should "imitate Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1).

Jesus Showed Us the Way

Jesus had every right to be prideful—He's the sinless Son of God! Instead, He emptied Himself of divine glory and stepped down from heaven to walk humbly among us.

If Jesus chose humility, shouldn't we?
