Ezekiel 40:6 Amp. “Then he went to the gate which faced east and went up its [seven] steps and measured the threshold of the gate, one rod in width; and the other threshold [of the gate inside the thick wall] was one rod in width.” There were seven steps.

I was reminded of the story of Naaman, commander of the Syrian army in II Kings 5:1-14. Paraphrasing the story, Naaman’s wife had a little girl from Israel as her servant. The little servant girl suggested Naaman should contact the prophet, Elisha, in Israel to heal his leprosy. Naaman came to Elisha’s house and the prophet told Naaman to go and wash in the Jordan seven times. Naaman’s pride reared its ugly head because Elisha did not even come to meet him and told him to wash in Israel’s waters and not the Damascus waters. Naaman’s servants persuaded him to do what the prophet said. Naaman humbled himself and did exactly as Elisha told him to do and his flesh was restored like a little child, and he was clean.

I sense the Lord is calling us to humility as we begin the 24 Tabernacle of Worship. Matt. 18:4 “Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Zephaniah 2:3 “Seek the Lord [search diligently for Him and regard Him as the foremost necessity of your life], all you humble of the land who have practiced His ordinances and have kept His commandments; seek righteousness, seek humility [regard them as vital], perhaps you will be hidden [and pardoned and rescued] in the day of the Lord’s anger.”

I had a friend in Idaho that always said, “ God doesn’t have any problem dealing with any pride in me.” I found it to be a good self check and perhaps even a good balance in life as well.
