As seasoned intercessors we are being called to step up our game of intentional intercession and spiritual warfare. This will require a focus like we’ve never known before.

Part I- The Fundamental Principles of Focus

What is Focus?

Webster’s Dictionary says, “It is a center of activity, attraction, or concentration of attention or energy.”  Bottom line, it is about The One Thing!  This type of focus will harness the power of concentration that gives way to a single mindedness.  This, single mindedness, will provide a greater ability to manifest the power to focus one’s attention on one thought, object or activity while at the same time excluding from your awareness everything else.  It is not about multitasking and seeing how many things you can do or how much you can get done in a given time frame.

Why is Focus important?   Because it is paramount to not miss what God is doing in taking Colorado back as His high place and throne and how He wants to use KSN in doing it.  If we are not focusing on the right thing, then we will be easily distracted by good or bad things that compete for our focus, time and attention.  There are so many urgent situations happening right now within the world/nation/Colorado and with many prophetic words being put out calling us to action in one way or another.  This information and the things that need to be done are not bad, but if not vetted properly and put in God’s divine order and timing can be used to keep our attention on something other than what God wants for us to do right now.  This is why Godly focus is vital to staying in line with God’s will and purposes individually and corporately as His body and warrior bride.

God established a focus and the priority of things with His people many times throughout the Old Testament and Jesus reaffirmed it in the New Testament.  They are the two greatest commands that when followed establish who our focus should always be on (God) and how it is done (with Love) and what it is done with (are whole being). This focus will keep us anchored to Him and fueled with His love to move according to His will and purposes to minister and to battle in order to take Colorado and the United States back for God’s glory.

Old Testament

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” Dt. 6:5

“But take careful heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Josh. 22:5

New Testament

“Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is ‘Hear O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.’ ‘And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’  This is the first commandment. “And the second, like it is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31

God wants us to master the skill of focus, for with it we are a powerful weapon in His hands.  When you have your whole being and total focus on God, everything you do and think will flow from that lens, and there is nothing that will be able to draw you away from Him. There’s nothing that can cloud or confuse your thoughts, or instill fear, distrust and doubt through outside circumstances or forces.  You will come to know God’s heart and love for you and will clearly come to know His goodness. God’s will and voice shall guide and direct you in all your ways and circumstances.  As you “set your mind on the things above, not on things on the earth” (Col. 3:2) we develop single-mindedness. There’s no place for double-minded warriors in taking Colorado back as the high place of God’s throne. In James 1:8, the word double-minded means being divided in interest namely, between God and the world.  A double-minded person will waver, and be uncertain, will doubt and be divided and half-hearted.  All of which can fracture, destabilize, and distort a person’s focus causing them to not always see and hear what God is saying and revealing to them. This is when we will miss what God is wanting to say to us and do.

A great example of keeping focused was when the Lord took Elijah in a chariot of fire and in order for Elisha to receive a double portion of his spirit, Elisha had to keep his eye (focused) on Elijah.  Can you imagine seeing fiery horses pulling a chariot of fire down from heaven and picking up your mentor and friend?  Think of what that may have looked like. Do you think you could have only kept your eyes on your friend as you were being separated by a great whirlwind and fiery horses with all the fire that was most certainly around them?  Elisha did see, and he kept his focus on Elijah. He cried out in 2 Kings 2:12, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” As a result of his focus, Elisha received the double portion he asked for. Then he picked up Elijah’s mantle and continued forward as God directed him.

Dream: I had a dream where I was on a merry-go-round. As I was on it, it started to spin faster and faster, and I felt my body being pulled to the edge knowing I would eventually be thrown off by the centrifugal force that was present.  My head was spinning and confused not knowing what was up or down and I was feeling quite nauseous. Then I heard God’s voice tell me to move to the very center of the merry-go-round and to stand in one place with my eyes fixed upon Him.  When I did this, a peace and calm came over me. No longer did I feel unstable or like I was being pulled to the edge and off the merry-go-round.  My head cleared, my stomach calmed down and I was at total peace; the speed at which the merry-go-round was going became irrelevant.  God told me that in the end times things were going to speed up and seem to be spinning out of control.  There would be much confusion, instability and sickness.  People would be caught up looking at all the things around them instead of focusing on HIM. This will cause confusion, uncertainty and instability in their ways, as well as sickness and weakness resulting in people eventually giving in to the enemy’s assaults. Hopelessness and despair would become their focus.

I believe mastering the skill of focus in our individual lives will help keep us grounded, balanced and centered so that we will know God’s will and purposes for our life continually. Not just occasionally, but continually!  We will not be double-minded going after this or that, but will be signally focused with our total being going about our Fathers work, just as Jesus did.

Really excellent! I am feeling the pressure on my attention to the point of being overwhelmed many times in the past weeks! I want to be about the Father’s Business and eating of my daily manna, my “What is It?”, the daily bread the Spirit wants me to be focused on for each day.
