Elbert Civic Prayer Team

Public·23 members

Hello everyone!

Our Elbert County Commissioner Chris Richardson had an excellent post on Facebook today. In it, he is alerting us to the fact that our Colorado Legislative Session, which just began on 1/12/22 and goes through mid-May, has already been very active - some for the good, and some for the not-so-good, at least in my opinion.

Regardless of your opinion on any one bill, however, it is important for us to BE AWARE, and to communicate with our state Senator and state Representative for your district as to your opinion on them.

Below is a link to all of the active bills this session. Check it out, and if you click on the bill name you can find out more about them. They will first go to a committee, and you can also communicate with the committee members about your opinion - give the bill name and number when you do that.

And FINALLY, please be aware of a "Prayer at the Capitol" initiative which some of our state legislators asked for. There are a couple of pastors who are leading the charge. Every day of this legislative session there are a group of folks going downtown TO the Capitol and praying (silently) from the balconies of the Senate and House Chambers, and also praying in committee meetings as well. Prayer in a committee meeting can be silent, OR can be aloud as part of a public comment time in some meetings.

Elizabeth/Elbert County are in House District 64. The prayer day for Dist 64 is May 4.

Parker appears to be split between Districts 44 and 45. Not sure if there are others.

Dist 44 prayer day is Feb 18. Dist 45 prayer day is April 19.

You can find out what House and Senate District your address is in at the link below. Type your address into the box top left in the map area.

You do not HAVE to pray on those dates if they don't work for you - You can go ANY day. ALSO, you can go on days when a bill that you would particularly support or refute is in a committee hearing. You can go more than once! Let's bring the presence of the Holy Spirit to our Colorado State Capitol!

Please let me know if you would like more info on signing up to pray at the Capitol - but regardless, please keep watch over all of the bills being introduced, pray over them, get involved and contact your representatives on your opinion.

THANK YOU!

Mary Powell
